New Story! This is the story I wrote for vimeslady, who won my livelongnmarry auction. Solaces Never Dreamed Of: A Domestic Romance, by McKay Rated: NC17 Summary: When Severus wakes up after the Battle of Hogwarts and finds himself still alive, he decides it’s time to set his life on a different course. Content: frottage, wanking, public sex, rough sex Notes: The title is based on a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson: “The domestic man, who loves no music so well as his kitchen clock, and the airs which the logs sing to him as they burn on the hearth, has solaces which others never dream of.” Word count: ~16,700 Current Mood: pleased |

Fic: "Rumor" (Harry/Ron, NC17) There is a comm, in which folks take turns posting things to make magicofisis happy. Today is my day to post, so there is fic. Harry/Ron is her usual favorite, which seems like a good reason to write them. Title: RumorPairing: Harry/Ron Rating: NC17 Words: 2000 Summary: It's just a rumor, of course. Ron would know if it were true. Warnings: A few enormously long sentences? Heh. |

Because nishi_shinji wanted to see it, here's a picture of the yukata I made. I might add that I didn't have a pattern, but had to take measurements and figure out how and what to do and in what order from examining the yukata I already have. I might have made some mistakes, but I'm still pretty damn proud. Especially that I managed to get the front edge/collar thingie symmetrical with the pattern. :-) Next one will probably be easier... even though I still have no pattern! Oh gods... 'Tis the season of the leaf blower!
Why not wait until all the fucking leaves have fallen off the trees?!?! This way you'll have to do it again and again... and *sob* again! It's one of the most aggravating sounds I know, because it just never stops. |

busy day! Tuesday is my guaranteed day off for class and I almost always also get Wednesday, but this week I also have tomorrow off so it's like a three-day weekend for me! I spent my day productively, so tomorrow I can just do laundry and otherwise relax. A new workshop started up for maya/zbrush today. It's run by my teacher, so I went in at the same time as J and had a nice chunk of time to work on my model with guidance. It's looking very nice, although I probably picked the hardest person to do omg. I'm hoping once I get all the main things modeled and detailed and can put an expression on him he'll be more recognizable. In any case, I'm getting so much more comfortable in the program that I love it. The other day, I also had a chance to talk to my perspective teacher from last semester and he's going to be drawing a turnaround of one of his original character designs I like so I can model it for my final. Yay, collaboration. Anyway, after the workshop, I grabbed some food with J and then headed over to the campus fitness center. I'd never been there before, and it's low on machines, but more than enough for what I need. I'm planning to make it a habit to go every tues/weds. I was intending to swim today, but an hour of cardio turned me into jelly so I'm putting that off until next time. Jelly, I say. Had to beg an extension off the mods over at the snarry_games. I'd been So Close to finishing on time, but I'm glad I got an extra day so I didn't cram. I'm so pleased with my image, and I'm so excited about what my team has produced. I can't wait to see what the Pheonix artists are going to turn out! I think snarry_games is one of my favourite things to participate in, since it really pushes me. :D |

Hmm I'm trying Sugar Skull 08 and I'm not sure. It's not treacly but it is more brown sugar than white sugar. It's also very heavy and I'm not getting much of the candied fruit. I have to say it's not as cloying as I'd feared but it's not exactly what I expected either. |

Sundry notes 1. Writing to-do list: 1. Finish other charity thing (way overdue) 2. Thing for tomorrow 3. Snarry exchange (technically due Friday, have extension) 4. November Daily_deviant fic (11/7 ...anyone have a pairing request/prompt? My theme choices are computer/cybersex, drug use, and/or gender bending. Well, or eating of feces, but I think I may not have the fortitude for that) 5. Snapely_hols exchange (due 11/14) 6. Yule Balls exchange (due 11/15) 7. H/D hols exchange (due 11/22) 8. Smutty Claus exchange (due 11/24) 9. Other deviant thing (due 12/18).
Good thing I sat on my hands and didn't join any other exchanges, huh?
2. So, one of the challenges for researchers working to cure/defeat breast cancer is finding folks to do the research studies. Here is a website where you can sign up to participate in studies. They need all kinds of women (survivors, high-risk, no history, etc), and even once you've signed up, participation in any given study is voluntary; it's just that they'll be telling you when there is one. 3. I may or may not have swiped some of my child's leftover vicodin to make me stop caring about my throat hurting so I could get some frigging sleep last night and/or get some frigging anything at all done today. Illegal, but effective, if I did. I was, of course, hypothetically, careful not to take it with anything else with acetaminophen/paracetamol in it. |

Writing is what happens while you were making other plans I swear, it's the bunnies who are doing it, I'm just the one who has the fingers for typing. So, instead of getting the next chapter of the WIP Of Doom done... I finished and submitted a fest fic that wasn't due for another six weeks or so. Overachiever, moi? (I'll probably email the mods to ask for an extension out of sheer habit when the deadline approaches...) But with that out of the way, I decided to finally get the next update done and, full of ideas and determination, sat down to write yesterday evening - and what actually got written instead of NitHoB 33 were 1000 words of Harry/Teddy. I guess that from now on, I should just put my hands on the keyboard and wait for whatever happens then. Current Mood: surprised |

Various I am very glad to still have my parents alive. They were driving halfway across the country last night, and this morning my mum called me to tell me they'd been so close to crashing the car when a fucking huge moose ran out on the road in front of their car at fucking 1.30 am!!! That's not dusk, Mr moose! You're not supposed to run around like that when it's been dark for that many hours already!
As it was, mum (who was driving at the time) managed to avoid the moose and instead got into the fence thingie at the side of the road instead, doing damage to her beloved car. But rather that than the moose because those fuckers are rock-hard when getting them on the hood or through the windscreen. They're all okay though, including the moose, and could even continue to drive as long as they did it carefully said the mechanics. I'm so happy things went well! But now I'm nervous about their drive home at the end of the week!
** Have successfully managed to sew a yukata. Without a pattern. *g* I just took measurements from the one I already have. I feel accomplished! **
In an effort to beat the beast that is the writer's block, I have moved the computer from the office to the living room. I haven't been writing more yet, but interestingly enough, I've been a lot less hungry! O.o Of course, I also moved my naked-man-calendar as well. Can't sit at the computer without having a nice hard cock to look at. *g* So I'm now nestled in the corner where Bast is watching over my activities with approval, I hope. *g*

updates and such I only posted a couple of times in September, so I thought I'd try to do a little better in October, if only because I won't be able to use my Halloween icons if I don't! So, some news. I've added some drabbles to my site in my completist efforts to get everything housed there, safe and sound. After all the drabbles are posted, I can delete the fanfiction comm that I've abandoned, and I can upload the "In a Delicate Way" sequels, and then I'll be finished. I have a few odds-and-ends from previous fandoms I may add, but other than that, it'll be caught up except for new stuff. pervy_werewolf is hosting its annual Howl-O-Ween challenge again this year! The rules are here, and the prompts for week 2 are here. I've finished my livelongnmarry story, printed it, and mailed it to the winning bidder, vimeslady, and I'll be adding it to my site later this week. It's Snape/Lupin romance with smut, just under 17,000 words. Now I need to work on my snapelyholidays story, which I'm planning to do serious work on over Fall Break next week. I've had a basic idea of what I wanted to do since I got the assignment, and last night, I had an idea of how to do it, so I'm ready to sit down and start writing once RL permits. I've also signed up for hp_halloween, which involves writing a mere 200 words by October 29. Sign-ups are open through the 10th here, if anyone is interested in joining me. :D After that, it'll be time to tackle my Snupin Santa story, which is eating my brain, but I've deliberately put it off until last because I want to finish stories written for fests and events of which I'm not the mod first because I won't go after myself with a pointy stick if I'm late, but they might. And in other fest news, you've got a few hours left to sign up for the dark_flowers mini-holiday fest here. If you like Remus/Severus/Lily, this is your opportunity! And now, off to do some housework and grade my students' journals. Current Mood: busy |

Equus in NYC ( Click my dragon eggs, please??? )This past Sunday I met up with 20+ fans from all over to see Equus on Broadway. Some people I only saw for a few seconds, and some I was able to hang out with more. I went to the matinee show with alafairnadia, the accioslash family, dementordelta, treewishes, and a bunch of others I don't remember the LJ names of. Afterwards, we hung out at the Marriott for a bit, where I got to spend some time with dracofiend (and say hi to Mr. dracofiend) and theentwife as a few of us from the matinee show grabbed a table at the Atrium for drinks. I didn't spend nearly enough time with old and new friends I saw: adbaculum, alisanne, sassy_cissa, fuschia, lesyerxverts00, fbowden, rubyrosered... etc. Even though I didn't have a ticket for the evening show, I went to the theater anyway to see who else I could catch. The NJ peeps I saw for maybe a few seconds, then there was venturous1 whom I only got to say hi to. Of course, there were the NYC people like midnitemarauder and titti who I don't see much even though we live so close to each other. Then alafairnadia and I walked over to the Times Square Toys R Us and I bought a Wii :) All in all, a good day with great company and a fascinating play. So when's the next group of fen coming into NYC? |

Fic: "To Follow Your Heart" (Percy/Pansy, Adult) Title: To Follow Your Heart Characters: Percy/Pansy Words: ~11,000 Rating: Adult A/N: Written for countessmary for Sweet Charity--last spring. It's crazy, crazy overdue, and she and my other recipient have both been super patient (note to other recipient: yours will be soon, too). Countess Mary asked for Percy/Pansy, fluff or PWP; I hope this will meet her expectations. This went more in the direction of fluff, though there is eventually smut. woo! Working the desk on the weekends means I can bring in my laptop and write porn do homework. I feel terribly antsy so even though I /can/ fuck around, I instead find myself getting up every twenty minutes to run a load of dishes or something. Today though the newer crew really needs to start problem solving on their own, so I'm forcing myself to sit in the boring office and not be helpful. Gee, I'm forced to waste time on the interwebs. Woe is me. :p I got all spazzy when my online module said that my midterm was due today, since uh, it's only been a month wtf, but apparently it's the first part of my midterm. Doing inorganic modeling is so very unintuitive to me. I really wish I could get the blueprint references I need to model the Impala, but I just can't find anything for the appropriate year. My JDM bust for my zbrush class is coming along well, though I might ultimately make it a bust of the Comedian just so I can include some iconic pieces in terms of wardrobe and such. Am pleased when I got feedback from my instructor that all my topology was fine, so I've got all that down and now I just need to work a lot on building the likeness and figuring out what I want to do in terms of putting hair on my model. I started laying out a 2d animation project for myself last night also, since I'm feeling ambitious or something, and also J's 2d class has been fun to watch and learn second-hand (I helped him make a falling leaf animation, so I can see all the ways in which I find that sort of thing fairly intuitive). Anyway, am trying to aim for about a two minute fan animation. We'll see how it goes. :3 Current Mood: crazy |

Plagiarism news, tv shows, and the chiropractor appointment that wasn't Update on the plagiarism: the little weasel's stories have been removed from FF, also from another archive she'd posted other stolen goods on! It's not yet a total clean-out since she has some freeweb site thingie with one or two(?) stories, but for the most part, we have success! I am very relieved that my Lucius/Draco story was removed, because of the whole "indecently young Draco having sex with his father" thing. I really, really don't think that should be spread far and wide... *sigh* I love that story and what I tried to show with it, but not everyone can take a step back and see it, just because of the fact that yes, it *is* disturbing, and it is supposed to be too. If anyone should be flamed for it, it should be the writer, not someone who stole it, yes? Anyway, full report from stop_plagiarism is here! ** I'm not sure I can keep watching True Blood. It's... People get on my nerves and are annoying as fuck in it! Like Sookie's randy little bugger of a brother. Can he get killed already, please? ** On the other hand, I just watched the first episode of Fringe, and holy hell! I want to watch more of that!!! That is so my type of show! :-) Yay for torrents! I have three more episodes downloading now. That's a heroine that I enjoy to watch. Sookie, are you listening? ** Forgot to mention that I poured very hot coffee over my hand about 30 minutes before my appt with acupuncturist last Wednesday. Ouch. Apparently, I didn't scream loud enough for the other people in the car (yes we were having coffee and sandwiches in the car) to actually notice I hurt myself?! We had nothing cold to soothe it with, and I also couldn't tell Sven-sensei (my acupuncturist) about it since he thinks I should stop drinking coffee completely. Weirdly enough, I only got a slightly reddened mark on a knuckle... that's all. It stung a bit for a day. It's like all the times I've pressed a thumb or other part of my hand to the grill-part of the oven... I might get a blister, if I didn't press hard enough to go through that top layer of the skin, in which case the skin just goes white and hard. O.o And stings like hell for a few days to a week, before it's gone. I also generally just go ouch on these occasions. However, if I nick myself with a knife, I scream loudly and basically go into shock and panic and omg! And bleed a lot. It's disproportionate, you know. But yay for knowing how to turn on the flow of endorphines. That does help a lot, I think. Maybe it's because that's easier for me with burns, they don't get so bad and heal faster? ** I thought I was going to my chiropractor tomorrow. I was supposed to go to my chiropractor tomorrow. I have an appointment with my chiropractor tomorrow. Am I going to my chiropractor tomorrow? No, I'm not. I'm not, because my still-befuddled stepfather set up three appts for tomorrow. The problem? We're four people who need to see him. Three appointments, four people. Not so good. The step-dad had not set one up for Elle. So, I'll give her mine. My neck is shot but it's mostly due to my muscles having turned into concrete. And the vertebrae between my shoulder blades are remarkably flexible and non-aching for a change. I might survive until next time. It wouldn't be fair to Elle to tell her the afternoon before she thinks she's going to get help with her back that nope, sorry we forgot about you. I just wish I didn't have pounding headaches every day. :-( But that is probably because of the reason why my landlord is paying to have me moved to another flat: the waterpipe problem. I highly suspect mould has developed. And I am so allergic to that stuff! Really, why is it so few people understand how dangerous that shit is? Watch House, people!!! (Especially the hotel owners in the UK, please? Will I ever stay in a hotel that doesn't have a huge mould problem?) They always check for mould when they suspect environmental causes. And that is not something the writers just make them do because it's fun. ** Still having writer's block. I'm getting worried about the Allen/Kanda story now. *le sigh* I know it's the stress/allergy/apathy/depression that's causing it though. Problem is that it has to be done, latest, the day I move. So, I'll have to just push through this somehow. |

A History Major's Guide to the Current Foreclosure Crisis In attempting to answer awallens's questions about the current Foreclosure Crisis, I ended up writing a five-page document in what I consider layman's terms trying to make sense of what's happening in the current housing market. This is an explanation that I, with a history and writing background and who knows almost nothing about financial stuff, have come to understand after stewing on the subject for the past year and a half. I tried to be as non-technical as possible, simplifying all math to save face on my horrendous calculation skillz to make this palatable to the humanities crowd. And in case you're wondering, yes, I do spend a good chunk of my work day writing very similar narratives to convince people to fund our programs. Learning through osmosis definitely worked in this case, heh. Onward, behind the cut... ( An Explanation of the Current Foreclosure Crisis, or, An Attempt Thereof ) Current Mood: nerdy |

Archiving As I've mentioned here before, I've been pruning back the number of archives where my stories are housed in an attempt to keep them in a small pool where I can a) actually remember where they are, and b) remove them quickly should the need ever arise. I've been debating on which archive to use as a multi-fandom catch-all because while I have everything (well, except for all those damned drabbles, which I want to upload for the sake of completeness but which I'm sorely tempted to dump because it's a pain in the ass that will take forever) on my site, if something happens to Slash City or to me that results in the site going down, I'd like to have my stuff housed somewhere else for back-up and posterity's sake. I've decided on Sycophant Hex, because they've got the Chaos archive, which is for non-HP fandoms, and I've already got a few stories up there, namely my two BSG stories and my lone PotC story, but I've got other stuff from other fandoms I want to get up there eventually. I'm housing my slash at Eros & Sapphos, but I've got a couple of questions, so if anyone reading this archives at SH, please feel free to chime in. Okay, so I'm putting all my slash at E&S, but Snape slash is also posted at Occlumency, and Lupin slash is posted at Lumos (now that they've integrated Wolfsbane over there). I have accounts at both, but I've been putting the het and gen there, not the slash. Would it be uncool or attention-whorey if I cross-posted Snape slash to Occlumency and Lupin slash to Lumos? I may keep the RL/SS stuff on E&S alone because cross-posting it to 3 places might be overkill, plus that would be a LOT of work, considering how many RL/SS stories I have! But I have Snape slash and Lupin slash that's not RL/SS that could go in the other archives. Also, SH has a rule about underage sex: Underage Sex: No submissions depicting explicit sexual acts for characters below the age of 17 will be allowed, but submissions may reference to sexual acts of those under 17 years of age. Reference to physical or sexual abuse of children under the age of 17 may be included within the story only as required for background information. No graphic details may be included. I don't have a lot of stories that would be affected by this, but I'm wondering about my borderline stories, where it's not explicitly clear what age the younger character is, like Better Than Handome, which is Remus/schoolage!Neville or Bottoms Up, which has schoolage Harry, Neville, and Draco. In my mind, they're 17-18, but it's not really explicitly stated in the stories (IIRC), so should I leave them out of SH or put a note saying "They're all over 17" and post them? Also what about stuff like Marauders Era RL/SS or Remus/Regulus? I've got some PWPs I wrote for pervy_werewolf that deal with Marauders Era characters while they're still in school. Opinions? robot fights! Nothing makes me feel like I've got a whole lot more extra time than I thought than checking my schedule and realising that the following day I am working closing, not open. Hm. And despite wasting a ton of time reading news and getting caught up on all the latest goings on, I managed a rough ink for the next 1mr comic which I've slotted to finish tomorrow. I'm fairly on top of my homework as well, and overall I feel surprisingly good about my level of work versus classwork versus funstuffs. I worked another full day in the office today without any hand-holding, so I've pretty much got that down, also got paid which after putting most everything on plastic this weekend for convenience, will be very handy. :3 Speaking of work, J is going to be learning how to cook on the line this week! I'm kinda excited, especially since I think it's neat that he's getting to learn all of that. I'd considered training on it myself since the option is there, but it's a little intimidating, particularly since my height could actually affect my ability to be quick about certain things like reaching for soups that are on the back burners! But anyway, J is on his way home, and has promised me pizza and Iron Man when he gets here, so maybe I'll draw for a bit. Woo! :D Current Mood: cheerful |

Underline the ones you can't remember if you liked or didn't like.( Top 100 Banned/Challenged Books in 2000-2007 )Wow, that wasn't much I'd read on that list!
